Presented by Elizabeth Ferraro of Women Who Code NYC
Our end goal is to send a text message 24hours before it rains in New York City. First, we will work with the Twilio SMS API (https://www.twilio.com/docs/api/rest) and send a text message. We will learn how to test an API with Postman (https://www.getpostman.com/). Second, we will incorporate the Weather API (https://openweathermap.org/api) to trigger an if/else response.
We will be coding within Atom (https://atom.io/). Please bring a Mac laptop and download Postman (https://www.getpostman.com/) and Atom (https://atom.io/).
By the end of the talk, you will have:
1. Called to Weather API and Twilio SMS API
2. Learned how to use Postman, a popular API testing tool
3. Coded a logic statement involving the API’s data
