Join NYC-area members of the global Open Government and Civic Technology Facebook Group as we mix it up and showcase your interesting projects, apps, and innovations. With over 5000 members from 100+ countries, the New York City region boasts an eclectic membership on one of the world’s most vibrant online exchanges about all things civic tech. Join Steven Clift, the online group’s founder, and Executive Director of Minnesota-based E-Democracy.org for an open exchange. The event will be streamed live via Civic Hall’s Periscope.

2:30pm: Intros and Showcase
  • An unconference style round of introductions: Name, neighborhood/city, org, and share a favorite civic tech “bookmark” or lesson. Or present a showcase.
  • Showcase: Share up to 3 minutes with one or two web pages/screenshots/images. These will be shared globally via the Facebook Group.
  • Pre-submit showcase web pages/image links via this Google Sheet.
3:15pm: Building a Global Engine for Civic Tech Networking?
  • Share your ideas for building on the already vibrant exchange on our Facebook Group
  • Plot global outreach to bring in the next 5,000 participants reaching #opengov innovators every country
  • Input will go to the new leadership team/advisory committee for the Facebook Group
3:45 pm: Research Update: Quick BeNeighbors.org lessons and survey results*
  • Inclusive neighbors online? Better as gated communities? Generating better civic impact?
  • What do participants on E-Democracy’s neighborhood forums have to say about impact?
* Depending upon the time available, Steven Clift will share brief highlights from 1300 participant survey responses from across 20+ Neighbors Forums in Minneapolis and Saint Paul. With other proprietary sites holding lessons close to their chest, these research insights are not available elsewhere. Access survey results in advance.
