Mapping the Growing Civic Tech Movement

Location: Cafe

7:30am - 10:00am EDT

The Civic tech movement is growing. From sea to shining sea, that is, from Civic Hall to Code for America, and beyond, public servants, technologists, and citizen activists are hosting conversations, building tools and creating projects to improve the lives of the many, not just the few. Join Microsoft, CivicMakers and our host Civic Hall to discuss the new growth of this august movement. Together, we’ll walk through an interactive visualization exercise led by Civic Hall member Jonny Goldstein to elucidate the civic tech landscape that surrounds Civic Hall. Then we’ll demo two new tools to helping to map that landscape—Microsoft’s Civic Graph, and the CivicMakers knowledge sharing platform.
